Natural Headache Relief During Pregnancy

What can you use besides Tylenol for your headache during pregnancy? 


Although occasional or episodic use of Tylenol is considered OK in any trimester, there are some compelling studies to limit its use during pregnancy, especially chronic use. What are some other things you can try?

 

Rest assured, there are some natural ways to relieve a headache during pregnancy: 

🫚 Up to 1g of ginger capsules per day. Similar effect as ibuprofen, but without the risk.
💊 Try not to exceed 3g tylenol (acetaminophen) in a day. Some may need to limit even more.
🧠 400mg magnesium glycinate nightly + 200mg Riboflavin (B2) once daily + 100mg CoQ10 three times daily
🧂 1/2 packet of electrolytes like LMNT or add sea salt plus lemon to water. Protein every few hours.
💆‍♀️ acupuncture for pain relief, massage or chiropractic adjustment if headache seems related to neck strain/tension
👃 saline rinse (i like Arm + Hammer which is less “stingy” due to addition of baking soda) if the headache feels related to congestion

 

Can a headache be a warning sign during pregnancy? 

A headache is always a reason to call your care provider! Sometimes it can be related to high blood pressure or need urgent evaluation. And as always, this is not medical advice but simply information and something to discuss with your care team!
